The views from the lodge's broad terraces enable you to enjoy Atacama's vast chain of volcanic mountains.In 2008, we set ourselves the challenge of intensifying your explora Atacama experience, remodeling the furnishings and the indoor and outdoor spaces. This Atacama travel review was written by an AdventureSmith Explorations crew member. The excursions are truly the highlight. We chose the entry level room which was lovely. The hotel is about 1 1/2 hrs drive thru what looks like the sea of tranquility except for the windmills. We have respected the original layout of the land and restored and maintained some of the buildings.Opened in 1998, our lodge is situated on 17 hectares (42 acres) of grounds just a few minutes' walk from the town of San Pedro de Atacama. We recommend calling ahead to confirm details. The tour guides- Angela, Felipe, Meme, Jesilia, Danny, Luis, Bernie, and Rey- were excellent. Taxes and fees that are shown are estimates only. The guides were so knowledgable and provided voluminous cultural, geologic and ecological information! Free WiFi access is available in common areas. There was a good variety of included trips which were mainly half days returning to the hotel for lunch. As with Explora in Rapa Nui, we thought this was a great way to explore the area.
We did multiple excursions and every one of them is worth experiencing. the guides on the excursions were top notch and Atacama itself is incredible experience- extraterrestrial!!
