For all the talk of how tacky his decorating was – which is sorta the case here – he managed to create a room that looks modern and almost futuristic, even though it was designed in the fifties. The yellow and black color scheme is a lot to take in – as is the mirrored ceiling and TV wall – but it’s no small feat to create a room that still looks fresh six decades after being designed. One of the most famous rooms at Graceland – and the one that is often seen as the epitome of Elvis’ design tastes – is the jungle room. In the early 1960s, rock and roll icon, Elvis Presley bought a home in Beverly Hills for $400,000 after he and Priscilla Presley first married in 1967, and it's now being sold for 75 times that price after a major overhaul to turn it into a contemporary estate in Los Angeles, Top Ten Real Estate Deals shares. Second only to the White House, Graceland receives more than 700,000 visitors a year. Presley is said to have driven the car to a paint shop before squashing a bunch of grapes on the bonnet and asking for it to be painted that color.Far from just being content with land-based vehicles, Elvis also bought several private planes. Pictured here is a Rolls Royce Phantom V that Elvis bought in 1961 – a car that would easily fetch a few hundred thousand dollars today.Unfortunately for Elvis, when he brought it back to Graceland, the chickens that his mother had began pecking at their reflections in the car, chipping away the paint. Elvis Presley was known for his outlandish and extravagant style, and the way he had his home decorated was no exception to this trend. All that this Cadillac is missing is a few rhinestones. As well as cars, Elvis was known to have quite a few smaller or experimental vehicles that he enjoyed taking out for rides. Elvis had the car repainted, but we bet they were eating chicken for a few days at Graceland. The furniture, upholstery, and carpeting are still largely neutral and tasteful – but the decision to have the room be almost all white creates quite a striking image, and is a classic choice for the rich looking to create opulent rooms. The most striking elements, however, are the two stained glass windows at one end of the room that display wonderfully-rendered peacocks. It is in the games room that it first becomes clear that we are in the house of Elvis Presley. In the 1960s, during one of Elvis' home improvement projects, it was added to the back of the house - first as a screened in porch and then closed in as a room a few years later. However, to really do the king of rock and roll justice, you would ideally have a stone bust of him somewhere – which Graceland does indeed have. The nose seems to have seen better days, but this marble rendering of the king does seem like the best way to pay tribute to such an extravagant and noteworthy person.Seen here is a drinks tray that was made to commemorate the marriage of Elvis Presley to his wife Priscilla in 1967. As we can see here, Presley had quite an interesting assortment of vehicles – perhaps buying them with the intention of forming the world’s silliest biker gang.Nonetheless, we have no doubt that it would have been quite an amusing sight to see the world’s most famous singer tearing around his estate in one of these.Elvis wasn’t just a fan of cars, he was a fanatic, to the point that he owned the first-ever purchased Stutz Blackhawk.
