I would rate it as easy - not much elevation gain but there are some rooty bits and some fallen logs.
It’s quite large in several areas, so beware!Due to some tight, narrow sections near drop-offs, as well as many rock and root obstacles, I would suggest changing this trail rating to ‘moderate.' A short riverside trail connects the two picnic areas on either side of Rosewall Creek. It took about 2 hours round trip and was relatively easy for myself.
Took us 2 hours there (kids walking) and 45 mins of hoofing it back (carrying the kids).Went on a drizzly afternoon, we were alone on a Thursday. An easy and very pleasant trail along the creek takes you to a neat waterfall outside of park boundaries in about 45 minutes (3.5 kilometres). 1 downside- hogweed.
we headed out early to try and avoid the heat of the afternoon. Relax as we take you on a very scenic drive to the beautiful Cowichan Valley, stopping halfway to enjoy the absolutely breathtaking mountain and ocean views from 1200 feet. Starting at the Rosewall Creek Provincial Park parking lot you take the trail upstream of the creek passing under the inland island highway bridge. Lots of roots so be careful where you step. Really lovely hike. On this hike you walk through a lush west coast rain forest, along a crystal clear creek, and all the way up to a stunning waterfall. The park can be accessed by the Cook Creek interchange off Hwy #19 or Hwy #19a; the park is located approximately 2 km from the interchange. We will pick you up in our modern, comfortable, large, passenger van. Nice easy hike along the creek Nice park with picnic tables and some swimming spots if you like cold waters. This small day-use only park has two picnic areas on either side of the creek. Waterfalls at the end were awesome! Highly recommended! It was quite easy, although you must climb over/under some fallen trees, and the path is narrow in spots, few handles and rope to hang on too.
!You can go further than the park boundary towards the waterfall, but it goes from easy to challenging really quickly. I will return maybe tomorrow and find the falls and post how far past the Boundry it is.Nice trail, lots of trees down and creek banks are eroded a fair bit, including some small sections of trail. there are parts which are badly eroded and require careful attention. To reward you for your commitment, it ends with a peaceful waterfall. Taste a variety of wines. The trail varies widely from flat to hilly to pebbly to knotty and occasionally even resembles something like a goat trail (that’s a real thing, right?!) Definitely coming back in summer to take a dip in the swimming hole! Historique. However the first few kms would be totally fine. Now one of my favourite trails. In total it was 4 km each way through a varied beautiful forest to aDid the short 13 minute circle walk to the highway then around the other side of the river and back across the Railway Bridge. My 10 and 12 year old really enjoyed it; we packed a lunch and took a break at the falls.easy 6 km return trail.
Rosewall Creek Provincial Park is located approximately 3 km south of Fanny Bay in the Comox Valley on central Vancouver Island. A short trail connects the two picnic areas. Do not bring a stroller! Rosewall Creek Trail is a 3.6 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Comox Valley A, British Columbia, Canada that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The view of the falls isn’t wonderful, looks like there is another trail going up above the falls for a better view. The trail follows the creek all the way up to the waterfall at the end.
It takes about an hour to get to the end. The signage isn’t obvious and I didn’t even notice it until we were walking back.We started heading back and I casually mentioned to Alina it was getting close to dinnertime.
