I've thought about sawing off the hard plastic extension of the handle and grinding it down into a one-hander, but I picture a lot going wrong. A little elbow grease and some bicycle handelbar tape around the grip makes this a useful blade for chopping through growth, and obviously for defense. Handle feels cheap - would shatter on hard contact, but the price is right.

It works and is functional for machete purposes, but it will not replicate the feel and heft of a legit katana.
