I’d say the accent is a positive touch that allows the reader to join the story as a more “in-character” voyeur, though I will have to do my best to remember I am not IN the story, myself. So In some scenes the Scottish dialect/slang are more pronounced, particularly in Spud's job interview (he is virtually incoherent at times). I tried to read the book in german, bad idea, every other word being SCHEISSE I gave up after page 1!12 is really a bit young for that kind of movie.

I know making a film of a novel requires some jiggling with the plot and a condensing of characters, but it really bugged me. Both have a 'gang' culture in a way - a definite gang of thugs in CO but a gang of friends joined together by their drug use in TS.
