Nearly 25 years and an endless amount of viewings later, John Carpenter's "Escape from NY" still ranks high among the chosen few, quintessential cult films of the 80's. A nerdish boy buys a strange car with an evil mind of its own and his nature starts to change to reflect it. He wrote the screenplay, but no studio wanted to make it because, according to Carpenter, "[i]t was too violent, too scary, [and] too weird". So for about two and a half months I never saw daylight, which was really strange. As they continue on foot, Brain is killed by another mine.
