Hopetoun House is Scotland's finest stately home and is a place of outstanding natural beauty and has been home to the Hope family since 1699. It shows some of the finest examples in Scotland of carving, wainscotting and ceiling painting. 14 August 2020 to 23 August 2020 We are thrilled to be opening the doors of Hopetoun House once again. Hopetoun House is a unique gem of Europe's architectural heritage and undoubtedly 'Scotland's Finest Stately Home'. The house is decorated with the best period furniture, paintings, tapestries and clocks, with beautifully crafted finishes of carving, gilding and plaster work. As you reach the ha-ha and guardian sphinxes, carefully contrived to inculcate a sense of majesty, it reveals itself in its full splendour. Hopetoun House is a country house near South Queensferry owned by the Hopetoun House Preservation Trust, a charity established in 1974 to preserve the house and grounds as a national monument, to protect and improve their amenities, and to preserve the furniture, paintings, manuscripts, and other articles of historical interest associated with the house. Groups are based on a minimum of 15 visitors. Our beautiful State Apartments within the main house are a stunning setting for an intimate dinner for up to 50 guests whilst outdoors we can offer a mini Highland Games, clay shooting and archery for coporate tema building days.
