It's never sound as tape, but simply out of any focus (I wont call it dull, as dull has something anyways). All these imitations and processing made me hate contemporary how-its-so-called-today deep house. For a producer still finding his sonic and creative footing, this is perhaps the closest we have come (so far) to hearing Floating Points’ magnum opus. I have nothing to complain about mastering. The opening composition is a carefully constructed work where acidic synth melodies and rumbling, beat which - when it eventually arrives- buffers in to gear and creates one of the most rewarding dance floor crescendos in recent memory.
