But it talked almost exclusively about religion, which I find fascinating. I had him read the section on Tituba and he aced the assignment and taught the teacher. Ben Carson, along with his wife, have a knack for direct, insightful, but fair observations on the landscape surrounding them. Some good, some not so good.For a political/current affairs type book it gets 5 stars. He asks why someone might be offended at being told to read and meditate on a passage of the Christian bible that tells people to come back to the Lord.

However, I thought it was time I tried to open my views, and read every presidential candidates' books.
The index has proven helpful especially when a teen lamented having to give an oral report in class about What an eye-opener this book will be to those who think we, as a nation, was founded on Christianity and are to be a Christian nation today. He and his wife founded the Carson Scholars Fund, which gives scholarships to students for their academic achievements. For someone with no political background, Dr. Carson is amazingly well versed in the inner workings of our system and is quick to point out its successes as well as its failures. Why? This was an absolutely fascinating book - less a comprehensive, continuous "American history" than a patchwork of starting places, sometimes directly challenging taught assumptions about American history. This book was an enjoyable and, having come from a high school that taught limited history, highly informative read. Having seen the movie, "Gifted Hands," I was familiar somewhat with his story and was impressed with him both as a person and as a world-renowned neurosurgeon. My favorite chapter is titled 'The Origin of Morality' and covers his views on evolution, abortion, and homosexuality. In fact, I didn't even finish the book.
