Quentin Durward.
While well received at home, the sensation it created in Paris was comparable to that caused by the appearance of Waverley in Edinburgh and Ivanhoe in London.
Richard Thorpe managed a few amusing moments in "The Adventures of Quentin Durward" which has a trapped Kay Kendall, whose only hard way to escape was to get rid from the evil black villain William De La Marck (Ducan Lamont).Looking for some great streaming picks?
King Arthur's rule is threatened by the adulterous love between Sir Lancelot and Queen Guinevere, a relationship the king's enemies hope to exploit. A truly splendid Scope transfer, lovely colour and sound and a fair price (just). Reviews ... SHOW ALL. A teenage American girl while visiting her father, is thrown into London society during the "Debutante Season". Yes I do believe this is under rated & is every bit as good as "Ivanhoe" & "Knights of the Round Table" in its own way.
A young orphan is sent to the village of Moonfleet, in Dorset, England to stay with his mother's former lover, who has the facade of a gentleman but is a leader of a gang of swashbuckling bootleggers.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 11, 2011 I don't hesitate in rating this movie with 5 star's because I believe it deserves all 5 star's!!! In 1465 Quentin Durwood travels to France to meet Isabelle, Countess of Marcroy, on behalf of his elderly Scottish uncle whom, for political reasons, the Duke of Burgundy intends she marry. Fifteenth-century France, the French Revolution, and contemporary Britain all come together in this sharp-eyed novel of political expediency and intrigue. I am a huge fan of all movies with sword's I enjoy the fantasy aspect of the Sword & Sorcery genre & love the Historic period pieces especially the epic's from the 50's & 60's!!! Quentin Durward was published in June, 1823, and was Scott's first venture on foreign ground.
And just because it might not have as many action scenes has Robert Taylor's other two Epic's please don't think it lacks action, there's plenty of clashing sword's and one of the most unique blade battles in the belfry you may ever see!!!
Brilliant film. Thank you. Your recently viewed items and featured recommendations
