I will not be taking this trail again.This trail is very long and connects regions that are otherwise only connected by crowded highways. The problem is as you make your way past Katella and continue East (towards the 91) the trail has started construction (I want to say around Tustin?). Garden Grove appears to be one of the only easy spots with access to food. Currently both trails have sections closed so you can't ride end to end as of 3/30/18. City officials have closed a nearby parking lot. Open Now. The trail was open. Redlands East Valley grad helps create worldwide virtual summer camp
Seemed like a very safe place to park since there was a steady stream of cyclists in the area. The Santa Ana River drains the largest watershed of California's South Coast region, covering 2,650 square miles (6,900 km ) in parts of San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles Counties. Phase IV will run from California Street in Redlands to Garnet Street in Mentone and up to the San Bernardino National Forest for a total of another 11 miles. In recent years I've also ridden the upper portion which is a completely different experience but still worthwhile.

That's when the ride becomes beatiful! We did a full 5k run and could have gone longer, except there were no restrooms on site (at least none that we saw).

Both are city urban commuter type bikes and both of us over sixty-five. The parking lot at 64th and Downey streets in Jurupa Valley is closed Sunday, July 12, 2020. The Santa Ana River Trail is a 12-foot wide path following the Santa Ana River, a waterway that is cement-lined through much of Orange County but free flowing in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. There are a couple of transients that live along the trail. Plenty of graffiti markings on the few benches and other structures along the trail (then again this is California and can be expected). Features Animals. This is it...Nice trail. Very nice and relaxing. However I find it a little weird how different sections of this trail are connected and signed.
