A summary of 2012 in the magazine _Current Archaeology_ of my research into the site and buildings of St Paul's Cathedral in London, from Roman times to the Great Fire of London in 1666. (It was popularly rumoured that a Roman temple of Diana was built on the site, but there is no evidence for this.) Construction work on the cathedral began after a 1087 fire and finshed in 1314.
