When I read a good I want the characters to struggle, but I want them to triumph at the end and the whole thing left me very disappointed.

This review is for the third installment of the Four series, The Son, only. She is a great writer and this book is very addictive. This insightful short novel is just one in a spin off series.

The events didn't mesh well at all with what I already knew. I liked this novella and getting a glimpse into the build-up of what was going on in the Dauntless faction before Tris showed up.

Four is being stripped of all good and of any mystery.

The Son also shows readers how Four came to work in the control rooms, as an instructor instead of as a Dauntless leader alongside Eric but also more minor details such as how he got his tattoos or came to have his own room when all the other Dauntless members share rooms in Divergent.

The only con of this book is that once again you end up craving more of this outstanding collection so fingers crossed that Veronica Roth will bless us with that. *sigh* I guess I will. Before reading this novel along with the other three books in this series the reader must read the first book in the Divergent Series or it will spoil a lot of the Divergent Series and I would recommend that you read the entire Divergent Series if possible before reading the Four spin off series. It reminded of something a friend of mine usually says: Veronica Roth is the #1 New York Times best-selling author of the Divergent series (Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant, and Four: A Divergent Collection), the Carve the Mark duology (Carve the Mark, the Fates Divide), The End and Other Beginnings collection of short fiction, and many short stories and essays. (c)Q: You can be more than either, more than any faction. I see now I see it all so clearly.

And I really just love him as a character.
